Environmental Policy

Till & Whitehead Limited is conscious of the impact of its activities and strives to take a pro-active stance in the avoidance of damage to the environment. It now appears that the external conditions faced by us as consumers and producers, are changing at an accelerating pace. We must prepare ourselves for a life in the future world that is much more integrated and unpredictable than today’s, with a more competitive and mobile business environment and increased interdependence between individual businesses. It is clear that the effects of a growing and demographically ageing population will lead to a dramatic increase in the emission of gases and further accumulation of harmful nonbiodegradable substances.

Specifics initiatives for Till & Whitehead and its key personnel are:

  • The staff trained to know the importance of recycling packaging materials, reduce consumption of raw materials (e.g. paper) and endeavour to purchase new materials from a source which is aware of the duty to re-plant felled trees.
  • Any chemical materials and products are stored in a sensitive manner and the products are stored according to the coshh information.
  • All vehicles are serviced on a regular basis to reduce co emissions, coupled with a transport and planning policy to utilise and acquire vehicles which use unleaded fuel and are fitted with catalytic converters. Routes for deliveries are carefully planned to keep consumption of fuel to a minimum.
  • There are various energy conservation procedures in place at company premises. These include not heating areas of the building which are open to the outside for long periods, such as the loading bay. We also take care to switch off unnecessary lighting points and use computer screens which automatically ‘blank’ after a set period of inactivity.
  • Our environmental policy is reviewed on an annual basis with a view to continually improve our awareness and performance in this area, taking into account the changes in legal requirements and company commitments.
  • The company will monitor and reduce waste arising from its operation, promoting waste recycling and disposal of waste in compliance with the duty of care.
